Skills and pathways
The right progression model for every gymnast.
Use a clear recreational pathway or connect competitive development to the levels defined by the relevant governing body in your country.

Why it matters
Recreational and competitive gymnasts develop differently. Their pathways should reflect that.
- 01GymPath or club-created recreational pathways
- 02Country-specific governing-body levels
- 03Coach-created competitive development programs
- 04Clear progress for coaches, athletes and families
Built for Canadian gymnastics
Support national, provincial and club-created programs.
Clubs can connect Gymnastics Canada and provincial federation programs with their own recreational pathways, while keeping Safe Sport responsibilities and coaching decisions with the appropriate people.
Gymnastics Canada, the relevant provincial federation or program owner · CADRecreational gymnasts
A flexible pathway for recreational gymnastics.
Clubs can adopt GymPath, the Portal’s structured nine-level recreational framework, or create their own pathway around the skills, stages and awards they already deliver. A club is never tied to one prescribed recreational model.
Whichever route the club chooses, coaches gain a consistent assessment structure across groups. Gymnasts and parents receive a clearer explanation of what has been achieved, what is being developed and what remains before the next level or award.
- Optional nine-level GymPath framework
- Fully custom club pathways
- Clear assessments and achievements
- Visible readiness for the next stage

Assessment and recognition
Make progression and awards easier to understand.
A recreational pathway turns day-to-day coaching into a visible journey. Coaches can assess skills against the club’s chosen criteria, recognise achievements and identify who may be ready to move into the next level or group.
Connected parents and guardians can see an appropriate, coach-confirmed interpretation of the child’s current position. This gives families useful clarity without turning software into an automatic promotion decision.
- Current level and completed criteria
- Skills still being developed
- Coach-confirmed awards and progression
- Clearer conversations with families

Competitive gymnasts
Connect competitive development to official national pathways.
Competitive gymnasts can be tracked against the levels and pathways defined by the appropriate governing body for their country, such as a national level, grade or regional program. The Portal is designed for international use, so clubs can adopt the relevant structure rather than being restricted to a UK-only pathway.
Governing-body levels provide the destination and recognised requirements. They remain owned and defined by the relevant organisation; the Portal records and presents them as the competitive pathway adopted by the club.
- Country-specific pathway adoption
- Official level and stage visibility
- Requirements organised by apparatus
- Versioned program governance

Official pathway + coaching program
Build the coaching program that prepares each gymnast for what comes next.
Alongside the governing-body level, a coach can create a working development program containing the skills, progressions and upskills being trained towards the next stage. This separates the official pathway requirement from the practical coaching plan used to reach it.
Coaches can see current pathway progress and developing next-stage skills together. Parents and athletes receive a clearer view of where the gymnast currently sits, what the next level involves and how training is contributing to that journey.
- Current governing-body level
- Coach-created development program
- Upskills for the next stage
- Progress visible to authorised families

Evidence with clear boundaries
Keep skills, evidence and coaching judgement connected.
Shared skill definitions and assistance levels help coaches record how movements are developing, not simply whether they have been completed. Recognised technical references can add context where relevant, while clubs retain control of their own coaching expectations and program design.
Every assessment and progression decision remains coach-confirmed. Pathway data, recorded attempts and reference material support professional judgement; they do not automatically move a gymnast, award a level or approve a skill.
- Consistent assistance definitions
- Evidence linked to pathway criteria
- Recognised skill references where relevant
- Qualified coaching judgement retained
